Don't Text and Drive - Stay Alert, Stay Alive

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Award-Winning Video Producer and Musician Releases Free PSA Music Video to Combat Texting and Driving

Musician King Famous Makes Song and Video “Don’t Text and Drive” Available Free Under Creative Commons License; Song Offers Practical Solutions to Help Save Lives

Los Angeles, CA — August 27, 2014 — Music label Bluespace Records today released Don’t Text and Drive, Stay Alert Stay Alive, a Public Service Announcement song and music video from artist King Famous.

The profanity-free hip-hop track contains real statistics about the dangers of texting while driving, and the lyrics include technology solutions to disable a phone’s texting functionality while the car is in motion. Both the song and music video are available for free use and distribution under the Creative Commons License. They can be downloaded here.

Although not personally affected by the texting-and-driving phenomenon, King Famous says he’s become increasingly worried while researching the trend at sources such as the Department of Transportation website distraction.gov. The site lists such stats as:

- At any given daylight moment in the US, 660,000 drivers are using cell phones or manipulating electronic devices while their car is in motion.

- In 2012, an estimated 421,000 people were injured in motor-vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver.

King Famous, who is also a multiple-award-winning producer of television commercials, says he produced the song and video Don’t Text and Drive as a call for responsible individuals and organizations - nonprofits, government agencies, smartphone manufacturers, carmakers, and concerned drivers - to come together and spread the important message that texting and driving harms and kills innocent people every day.

"I know how addictive texting has become," says King Famous. "But I don’t want to be killed on the way to work because another driver can’t wait until they stop their car to text. That’s why I made this song and video, why I made them both free, and why I included real practical solutions in the lyrics."

King Famous hopes phone makers such as Apple, and automakers such as Ford, will help spread this message of safety and responsible driving by sharing Don’t Text and Drive with their respective customers and the public.
